Tea is, after water, the second drink most consumed in the world! In some countries more than two liters are drunk per day due to its properties.

In fact, they are naturally formed in our body or by the action of toxins – molecules called free radicals – when these attack the genetic heritage or the cells can cause health problems or premature aging. To reduce the damage, our body produces molecules called antioxidants; food is also an excellent source of antioxidants. Fruits and vegetables are among the richest, because they provide vitamins E, C and beta-carotene that have anti free radicals properties.

Tea is rich in flavonoids that have antioxidant effects. According to some studies, the work of flavonoids is more effective than C and E vitamins in the fight against the free radicals. A cup of tea gives our body the same benefits as a glass of red wine without the drawbacks. Although most of the results on the tea antioxidant properties have been carried out in vitro, several studies in humans or animals seem to confirm the beneficial role of tea, an American study also demonstrated that flavonoids black tea protect the walls of arteries.
